11 years without E-Sir: Remembering a star!

Dude,

As a young boy growing up in n.a.x, the same town you did your last show, music was the central part of my fucking life. It didn’t matter what type of music it was but no one rapper grabbed my ear in 254 like you, K-rupt & Klepto later. Childhood friend Kayo and I almost remixed your whole album with a tape recorder were it not for my cousin Tai who busted on us overwriting his reggae tapes.

I must admit, you really influenced me into writing songs. The way you used to flow, jump from a vowel to a consonant and that would go on and on and on, more so your mastery of Swahili!

I still feel death robbed us; family, friends, fans and we young rappers then who looked up to you. Maybe if time had permitted the level at which Kenyan music would be at right now only, only God knows!

We never met, we didn’t talk, see each other or things like that, (the closest I was to meeting you in person was at Dimpoz that night, too young for club then) but you were cool man and I loved your music. For that RIP one of the best masterpieces in Kenyan industry.

Hey look, I was with your bro Habib on Friday, he’s doing fine, though musically he’s meant to make serious comeback! And on 2nd April they’ll be doing a special 11th anniversary concert for you at Carni. Many rappers will show up.

Kenya loves you man! RIP.
